concertnova, the Cincinnati-based chamber music ensemble that focuses on “pushing the boundaries of classical music,” has partnered with artist-led organization PAR-Projects and photographer Asa Featherstone IV for Meet in the Middle, an exhibition that explores the shared narratives of Midwestern BIPOC communities.
The exhibition, taking place on April 13 and 14 at PAR-Projects in Northside, will include music from acclaimed Black Midwestern chamber music artists William Grant Still, Shawn Okpebholo and Shelley Washington, whose music will explore forgotten “middle” histories of Midwestern BIPOC communities.
The exhibit will also include photographic responses to the music by Asa Featherstone IV, Amber N. Ford and Market Randle. The Red Door Quartet, a string quartet comprised of Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra musicians, will perform both days.
Featherstone IV, who curated the exhibit, will make an appearance at a panel discussion to discuss the creation of the exhibit and his newly-launched photo magazine, MIDTONES Photo Magazine.
The two-hour-long performances are located at the PAR-Projects studio in Northside. Tickets and more information are available at concertnova.com.
