Braxton Brewing Co.’s seventh-annual celebration of bourbon-barrel-aged stout is back.

Dark Charge Day is ‘hoppening’ on Dec. 4. According to a release from the brewery, there will be four variants introduced this year: a barrel-aged Chocolate Hazelnut Coffee brew from Braxton Builder, Coconut Cream Puff and Barrel House Orange Curacao developed by Braxton Labs, and the Barrel-Aged Dark Charge. Organizers say they have planned extra surprises to make up for last year’s virtual Dark Charge Day.

As a bonus, Graeter’s and Braxton have collaborated on a special fifth beer release: Brown Butter Bourbon Pecan, a Dark Charge variant with flavors inspired by the ice cream chain’s Brown Butter Bourbon Pecan flavor.

Graeter’s will be on hand during the Dark Charge Day celebrations, serving scoops of Brown Butter Bourbon Pecan ice cream and operating a fresh-roasted pecan bar.

The celebration will take place at Braxton’s Covington taproom from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Dec. 4 and will feature live music from the Hot Magnolias, Noah Smith, Tracy Walker and more.

Area restaurants — including Parlor on Seventh, Rich’s Proper, Coppin’s and Agave & Rye, — have also partnered with Braxton to craft special Dark Charge Day menus.

Dark Charge bottles went up for presale in November so a limited quantity will be available at the event.

Braxton is located at 27 W. Seventh St., Covington. Find more information at darkchargeday.com.
