The Cincinnati Anime Film Festival is returning on Oct. 26 to the Hollywood Drive-In Theater in College Hill, located in the parking lot of Manga Manga, but this time with a family-friendly spooky twist.
The festival, presented by comic book shop Manga Manga, debuted in June with a screening of Ghost In The Shell, and continued on with weekly screenings throughout July and August featuring throwbacks and current favorites.
C. Jacqueline Wood, owner and operator of Manga Manga, founded the shop with the vision of creating a space that celebrates the connection between anime films, TV and manga, while also fostering a community of like-minded enthusiasts.
Their newest family-friendly event celebrates spooky season with a showing of Mary and the Witch’s Flower, which tells the story of a young girl who discovers a magical flower that can give her the power to be a witch, but only for one night.
In addition to the film screening, the event will also host a cosplay contest and Halloween runway event, so be sure to wear your best Halloween costume. The event will also have free treats and a photographer on site to take photos on the runway.
The festival begins at 4 p.m., with the cosplay contest beginning at 5 p.m. and Halloween runway at 5:30 p.m. The film will begin at 7 p.m and car tickets are available for purchase now at mangacincinnati.com for $25. Walk-up tickets are free. Walk-up guests are required to bring their own chairs.
