You can be freezing for a reason at The Banks this winter with the return of the Cincinnati Polar Plunge.

The Cincinnati Polar Plunge is part of a statewide series that benefits Special Olympics Ohio, with volunteers signing up to take an icy dip in a plunge pool to raise money for athletes with intellectual disabilities. Funds raised help support year-round sports training, competitions, leadership opportunities and health programming.

This year, the plunge will take place on Jan. 31 outside Holy Grail Tavern & Grille (161 Joe Nuxhall Way) on the Freedom Way side. Both individuals and teams are invited to take part in the plunge, and costumes, team themes and friendly rivalry are all encouraged.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. the day of the plunge, followed by opening ceremonies at 10:10 a.m., with the first jumps beginning at 10:30 a.m. Registration and more information can be found here.
