Kelley Mack, an actress, producer and voiceover artist from Cincinnati, who was best known for her role in the AMC show The Walking Dead, has died following a cancer diagnosis. She was 33.

“It is with indelible sadness that we are announcing the passing of our dear Kelley. Such a bright, fervent light has transitioned to the beyond, where we all eventually must go,” Mack’s family shared on her social media Tuesday.

Mack, who played Addy in Season 9 of The Walking Dead and made appearances in shows like Chicago Med and 9-1-1, announced on social media in January that she had been diagnosed with diffuse midline glioma, a highly aggressive and cancerous tumor that forms in the central nervous system. In the same post, Mack said she would be undergoing radiation treatment in Cincinnati, where her family lives.

“I am very grateful to have such a supportive and loving family and boyfriend, who have been with me every second of this process. It has been a very emotional and challenging time, truly testing my mental fortitude, faith, and physical strength. They are so positive and we have a sense of calm knowing that my healing is taking place and we will overcome. This experience has brought me closer to God, and I am leaning on him and trust his plan for me,” Mack wrote at the time.

In Tuesday’s post, Mack’s family said she passed away Saturday, Aug. 2, with her mother, Kristen Klebenow, and aunt, Karen, by her side.

“Kelley was known for her warmth, creativity, and unwavering support for those around her. She cherished time with her family and friends, finding joy in collaboration and storytelling. Her infectious enthusiasm and dedication to her work inspired countless others in the industry and beyond,” her family shared in a formal announcement of her passing on her CaringBridge profile.

Mack was born in Cincinnati in 1992 and grew up in neighborhoods Wyoming and Mt. Lookout. While she was growing up, her family moved around to cities including Ellisville, Missouri; Avon, Connecticut; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Hinsdale, Illinois, where she graduated from high school. Following graduation, she studied cinematography at Dodge College of Film at Chapman University in California and worked in Los Angeles for the past 11 years.

Mack leaves behind her parents, Kristen and Lindsay Klebenow; sister Kathryn; brother Parker; grandparents Lois and Larry Klebenow; and her boyfriend, Logan Lanier. A recognition and remembrance of her life will be held Saturday, Aug. 16 at 1 p.m. at the Glendale Lyceum in Glendale, Ohio. Her family will also plan a future celebration of her life in Los Angeles.
